Hidden within an elegant Hermès box were three pregnancy tests, transforming excitement over a lavish present into tears of joy as the impending grandparenthood dawned on their families.
Lionel Richie, beaming with pride, took to Instagram to share a snapshot from Sofia’s Vogue photoshoot, exclaiming, “My little girl is having a baby.”
Upholding a sense of privacy, Sofia wanted to honor the fragility of the experience by keeping the news to her inner circle for some time.
“Pregnancy is really scary and you want to protect that space,” she explained. “I didn’t realize there are so many milestones you have to hit and so many tests you have to take.
For me, it was really important to protect our mental health and our space as a couple.”

As Sofia eagerly anticipates the arrival of her Gemini baby, she envisions a future filled with love, kindness, and unwavering support.
Reflecting on her aspirations for motherhood, Sofia emphasizes the importance of instilling values of compassion, manners, and independence in her child.
“I want to raise a smart, kind person. I really value manners and being polite and being kind to everyone because that was instilled in me at a young age,” she said.
“I want to be protective but not too overly protective and find that balance. I want to be involved, but not too involved. I need to find that balance and groove,” Sofia continued.
