As a devoted Lana Del Rey fan, I tend to pay close attention to the things she loves and references.
So when I discovered that she admired Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, I felt compelled to read it myself.
I was already deeply invested in the world of manifestation and the Law of Attraction, but reading this book, especially through the lens of someone I admire, added a new level of inspiration to my journey.
What surprised me most is how relevant this book still feels, even though it was written in 1937.
Napoleon’s insights on mindset, belief, and abundance still resonate today, perhaps even more now in a world that’s awakening to the power of intentional living.
Below, I’ve outlined the ten biggest lessons I took from Think and Grow Rich, each of which has become a guiding principle in my own manifestation journey.
1. Your Subconscious Mind Responds to Emotion
One of the foundational ideas in the book is that our subconscious mind has far more power than we often realize — Napoleon suggests it governs 95% of our behavior.
To influence it effectively, emotion is key. It’s not enough to say affirmations like “I am wealthy” or “I am loved” without feeling the emotional truth of those words.
To manifest something into your life, you have to feel it with your whole being.
Emotionally charged thoughts have the greatest impact on our subconscious programming.
2. Faith + Action = Results
A common misconception about manifestation is that it’s all about thinking positive thoughts and waiting for magic to happen.
But Napoleon makes it clear: belief alone is not enough. You must pair your faith with inspired action.
It’s through this combination that your intentions begin to take form in the physical world.
3. Your Environment Shapes Your Mind
What we consume — books, music, social media, podcasts — affects our vibration and mindset.
Napoleon advocates for surrounding yourself with uplifting, empowering influences.
This means taking a break from media that lowers your energy: violent films, true crime, or music with degrading lyrics.
While this doesn’t mean cutting them out forever, it’s wise to be mindful, especially during sensitive manifestation periods.
One thing Napoleon’s ideas helped me fully commit to cutting out: adult content.
It’s incredibly low vibrational and clouds your third eye, or pineal gland, interfering with clarity and manifestation.
4. Sex Transmutation Is Real
Napoleon introduces the concept of sex transmutation — redirecting your sexual and creative energy toward your goals.
This idea is echoed today in practices like the “O Method,” popularized on TikTok, which involves channeling the climax of your energy into intentional manifestation.
While it’s a more advanced or even controversial practice, it aligns with Napoleon’s perspective on the power of focused desire and creativity.
5. Clarity and Confidence Are Magnetic
The universe rewards those who know exactly what they want and believe in their ability to receive it.
If you’re indecisive or doubtful, it creates mixed signals.
Napoleon stresses the importance of clarity in your goals and confidence in your pursuit.
Wavering intentions don’t manifest. Steadfast belief does.
6. Temporary Defeat ≠ Failure
One of my favorite teachings from Napoleon is this: defeat is only failure if you quit.
Nearly everyone who has achieved greatness has encountered setbacks.
What sets successful people apart is their decision to keep going. Not giving up!
Persistence is what bridges the gap between temporary disappointment and eventual success.
7. Desire Is the Starting Point of All Achievement
Every great manifestation begins with a burning desire. According to Napoleon, that fire in your soul is what fuels your journey.
You have to really want your dream — not from a place of lack or desperation, but from deep within your spirit.
For me, that desire is to spread the message of the Law of Attraction as widely as I can. It’s what keeps me going on days when motivation feels distant.
8. Auto-Suggestion Reprograms the Mind
Your internal narrative shapes your external world. If you’ve internalized beliefs like “I’m not good enough” or “I’ll always be broke,” those thoughts can be reversed through repetition and consistency.
Auto-suggestion—repeated affirmations and reframing negative thoughts — helps rewire your subconscious mind.
The key is to stay consistent. This isn’t a one-time effort; it’s a daily commitment to your transformation.
9. Your Imagination Is the Blueprint
Napoleon emphasizes that everything begins in the imagination. If you can see it in your mind, you can create it in reality.
Visualization, meditation, and journaling are tools that help activate this power.
Our imagination holds clues to the life we’re meant to live — and the desires in our hearts are often echoes from a future version of ourselves that already has what we’re seeking.
10. Persistence Is Non-Negotiable
Manifestation is not for the faint of heart. It demands consistency and resilience.
Many people give up too soon because pretending to have what they don’t yet see feels too hard or painful.
But Napoleon teaches that persistence in the face of delay, discouragement, or discomfort is what ultimately separates those who manifest their dreams from those who give up on them.
Bonus…. Be decisive
Though not part of my original top ten, I couldn’t leave this out. Napoleon underscores the danger of procrastination and indecisiveness.
Making decisions, even imperfect ones, puts energy into motion. It’s better to act and course correct than to stagnate in uncertainty.
When it comes to manifestation, clarity plus movement equals momentum.
So yeah…💘
Napoleon may have written Think and Grow Rich nearly a century ago, but its wisdom remains timeless.
Whether you’re manifesting love, wealth, health, or purpose, this book is a treasure trove of strategies and encouragement.
I’m grateful Lana Del Rey mentioned it in an interview—it truly lit a fire under me to dive in and absorb everything I could.
This book isn’t just about growing rich financially. It’s about cultivating a rich mindset, a rich sense of self, and a rich connection to your desires. It’s a must-read for anyone on the manifestation path.
If these takeaways resonate with you, I hope you’ll pick up a copy and begin applying these principles in your own life.
The future version of you—the one who already has what you’re dreaming of—is waiting.
