Searches for ‘solo cruise’ soar by 129% worldwide as travelers opt for a hassle-free way to explore the world
New research by Croatia Cruises has revealed that Google searches for ‘solo cruise’ reached a worldwide high over the past five years, hitting the highest point on May 25 and marking a staggering 129.1% increase.
This major trend reflects the ease of travel that comes with cruises; solo travelers can visit several destinations in one trip without having to worry about how to safely get from one place to another and needn’t stress about booking multiple hotels.
Not to mention, cruisegoers don’t face the trouble of unpacking their belongings repeatedly.

Anastasia Tretjakova, Senior Travel Advisor and Sales Manager at My Croatia Cruise, has commented:
“It’s clear from the findings that solo travelers are opting for a hassle-free way to visit their bucket list destinations. Safety can be a huge concern when it comes to exploring the world alone, but thanks to the controlled setting and 24/7 staff that cruises offer, solo travelers are given the peace of mind they need so that they can enjoy their trip with little worry.
“Solo travelers often wish to partake in activities during their trip, which usually means booking in advance and searching for trustworthy operators. However, cruises offer excursions, such as guided tours, visits to historical sites or landmarks, and snorkeling, by partnering with local operators, which therefore reduces the stress that can come with planning.
“On your hunt for a solo cruise, it’s important to check what excursions each cruise line offers, as you want to be sure that there are a variety of options if you’re eager to explore. If you’re hoping to meet other travelers, a smaller ship is your best option as it’s usually easier to socialize with others, or alternatively, select a bigger ship that hosts events to mingle.
“Another aspect to consider is the flexibility with dining. As a solo traveler, there may be times when you wish to eat alone, while on some days, you might like to eat with others. Many cruise lines give you the option to do both, but others will select specific dining times and even assign seating – so, if you hope to mix it up during your trip, make sure the cruise you opt for doesn’t keep you restricted to a set schedule.”
