Cassie from Euphoria is one of the most polarizing fictional characters in modern television, and for good reason.

She starts a lot of discourse because people are unsure whether they should love her or hate her.

There’s an argument to be had on both sides, but for now, let’s dive into one of her most unhinged moments on Euphoria in preparation for the release of Season 3.

Do you remember the moment Cassie got turned on when Nate was endangering her life in his speeding vehicle?

They got his truck together, he turned on music while drinking beer and then started speeding up until he hit more than 100 mph.

He kept drinking and driving faster well Cassie was doing her best to perform in front of him to show him that she was a “cool girl.”

She drank liquor with him, slid out of her underwear, unbuckled her seatbelt, and put her head outside the car window as he drove to show him that she loves to let loose and get wild.

The reason this stood out to me for being so extremely unhinged is that I remember reading an article a few years back about the psychology of a man endangering a woman’s life by driving too fast in a car.

If a man ever drives unsafely with you in his vehicle, knowing that you are precious cargo, it means he doesn’t love you, he doesn’t value you, and he truly doesn’t care about your health, safety, or well-being.

He doesn’t care if you live or die. He doesn’t care about your future. He doesn’t care about your physical body.

Because driving at that speed means that your life could be over. It means that you could be paralyzed forever, it means that you could lose mental capacity in case of a brain injury.

There are so many ways that this could go wrong. And a man driving recklessly with you and his vehicle is the most clear evidence that he doesn’t value you.

You are of no consequence to him. This goes beyond a man being nonchalant with you or apathetic. He truly doesn’t care if you live or die.

Cassie was trying to prove herself to him in this scene and it made her look so incredibly unhinged and desperate for his validation.
