Let’s talk about Sydney Sweeney and the fact that she is forever embodying lucky girl syndrome and she’s probably never going to leave her lucky girl era.

I posted another article here with my analysis of how Sydney survived the backlash of her American Eagle campaign, which goes hand-in-hand with the topic of her living her best life in her lucky girl era.

And might be dismissive of the phrase “lucky girl era” because they think it’s actually someone who is just lucky, but there’s actually a lot more depth to a woman living life in her lucky girl era.

It’s often very well thought out, strategic, and intentional. I’m an independent pop culture journalist after spending seven years, writing and researching entertainment articles for iHeartRadio, RapTV, and official Netflix synopses.

Right now, Sydney is on my mind since I recently just saw her star in The Housemaid in theaters and the third season of Euphoria is coming soon.

When I describe Sydney as being in her lucky girl era, I’m talking about the fact that no matter what she seems to do, she still constantly seems to win.

It doesn’t matter what she might do “wrong“ she is still consistently winning.

People were pissed about the American Eagle ad, but Sydney is still winning.

People thought it was weird that she started dating Scooter Braun, however, she is still winning.

And in my opinion, that is the definition of a woman who is deep in a never ending lucky girl era.

So let me share my five reasons why I believe Sydney consistently and constantly stays in her lucky girl era that’s probably never going to change.

Pretty privilege

First and foremost, I couldn’t in good conscience post this without addressing the most obvious reason Sydney is so lucky in life, which is pretty privilege.

Her pretty privilege doesn’t denounce the fact that she’s also incredibly talented as an actress, but it definitely helps her receive forgiveness from the public more quickly regarding scandals like the American Eagle ad or her relationship with Scooter Braun.

The fact that Sydney is an undeniably beautiful woman makes it easier for people in the world to quickly forgive, move on, and give her a free pass when she does things.not everyone may agree with.

And as much as you might not want to acknowledge that pretty privilege is a real thing, it is and pretty people in the world do you get to approach life differently than average looking individuals.

Again, I’m not minimizing Sydney‘s actual talent as an actress by shining a light on her pretty privilege and the way it helps boost her never-ending lucky girl era.

Her roles and projects like Immaculate, The Handmaid‘s Tale, and Reality are some of the reasons why she is taking seriously as an actress beyond her outward appearance.

In my opinion, pretty privilege goes hand-in-hand with her lucky girl era.

    She embraces overexposure

I believe Sydney is deep in her never-ending looking girl era is that she embraces overexposure.

Someone argue that it’s too much, but she’s decided that it will never be enough.

Sydney is constantly putting herself out there, posting on social media, agreeing to different brand deals, signing onto new movie projects.

It’s like she knows she has 24 hours in a day, and she’s willing to fill every single hour with something productive that will bring her more exposure, fame, and notoriety.

Her willingness to embrace overexposure is a huge reason why her lucky girl era is so strong.

Someone we can compare her to who embraced overexposure through the years is Kim Kardashian, also known as the queen of pop culture.

Kim is all about social media, visibility, and making herself as seen as possible from reality TV to tabloids and social media post.

I’m not saying Sydney took a page from Kim’s book, but if you think about the fact that Kim was accused of over exposure on her eyes to the top from 2007, when Keeping Up With the Kardashians first premiered until now, you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

Kim has been accused of overexposure for almost two decades now, yet she has never backed down or hidden away from exposure.

And Kim has created $1 billion empire because of it. Kim is one of the OG lucky girls of pop culture, and in my opinion, I feel that Sydney is fully embracing that energy.

    She lets people underestimate her

I believe Sydney stays in her lucky girl era forever and always because she lets people underestimate her.

Being in your lucky girl era is an energy thing. If you get bogged down and weighed down by the negative energy of people who think you’re not good enough, you undoubtedly, will never rise to the occasion or come out on top in ways Sydney has successfully done.

She has been underestimated by so many people around her, and she continues to get underestimated today by movie critics, random trolls on the Internet, and everyone in between.

People consistently underestimate her, but she continually shows up to prove people wrong, and in doing so, she shines more light on the lucky girl era she’s living in.

For example, she launched her own production company called 50-50 Films to have more control as a creative, which isn’t something many people expected out of her.

She shocked a lot of people when it was uncovered that she was in charge of her own production company, but that shock is something lucky girls use as fuel.

The fact that people underestimated her and didn’t think she would be capable of something like that can be alchemized into fuel for someone like Sydney, who obviously believes in herself and her vision, even if she’s surrounded by people who dismiss her without taking her seriously.

Lucky girls use doubts a negative energy from the world around them as ammunition to vibrate higher and continue winning in life.

    She prioritizes her own self-interests

I believe Sydney is in her never-ending lucky girl era because she genuinely prioritizes her own self interest.

It might sound horrible and selfish to say, but prioritizing your own self interest is one of the most powerful things you can do if you really want to enter your lucky girl era.

A lot of people diminish their own power and magic by constantly worrying about everyone around them and the needs of everyone else.

If you’re constantly filling everyone else’s cup, but never filling your own cup, then you’re going to end up empty and depleted.

You’re going to end up feeling used and resentful. It feels good to show up for others and prioritize others, but lucky girls who maintain their lucky girl era prioritize their own self interest before pouring into others to make sure they are 100% set.

And I feel we saw evidence of this when Cindy ended her engagement to Jonathon Davino.

They started dating in 2018 and got engaged in 2022. But she broke off the engagement with him at the beginning of 2025.

We don’t know what happened behind closed doors or why exactly they decided to part ways, but based on what it looks like from an outsiders perspective, Sydney has chosen to prioritize herself and her own needs instead of moving forward in a relationship dynamic that maybe isn’t the best for her.

The PR answer we got from a source to People Magazine is that the split was based on Sydney‘s decision to become more career focused at this time.

And if that source is telling the truth, then I’m on the right track with my analysis.

It means Sydney is prioritizing her self interest in terms of her career as an actress instead of marrying someone who she doesn’t feel 100% sure about. another example of her prioritizing her self interest is her constant agreements to do brand deals dubbed as cringe.

She has agreed to do so many brand deals that people have labeled embarrassing, weird, or random.

And Sydney doesn’t seem to care about any of that criticism. She is all about collecting her bag.

She is all about making as much money as humanly possible. so if that means posing for Dr. Squatch soap for men, she’s clearly gonna do it. And let’s not forget the backlash she received for doing that Dr. Squatch brand deal.

She definitely rubbed some of her more feminist fans the wrong way with that one.

I personally wasn’t bothered by it even though I’m a feminist because I see no problem in women draining men’s bank accounts, if men want to spend money on perverted shenanigans.

I literally couldn’t judge her for a second over that.

But at the end of the day, she was criticized for it and she still did what she wanted to do because it was best for her.

She prioritized herself interest. Which is evidence to me that she’s going to remain in her lucky girl era forever.

Especially if she continues prioritizing herself interest, regardless of what her haters have to say.

She played the long game to get to this point

My fifth and final reason for believing Sydney is in her never-ending lucky girl era is that she noticeably played the long game to reach this point.

Becoming THEE Sydney Sweeney as we know her today wasn’t something that happened overnight.

It took her years to build up her reputation and her career, which took drive, tenacity, and dedication.

And those are signs of a woman who belongs in her lucky girl era.

The misconception about a lucky girl era is that you kind of just fall into luck and things happen to fall into your lap without making any real moves or making any real effort.

But that’s just not true some of the steps required to embody the lucky girl syndrome and live life in your lucky girl era includes reprogramming your subconscious to reframe your negative thoughts, visualizing your desired outcomes, as if they’ve already come to fruition, assuming good things are always going to happen to you no matter what room you walk into, and taking inspired action.

Pairing your positive mindset with literal action steps is how you embody lucky girl syndrome on its deepest level.

And these are things you can easily notice about Sydney‘s lifestyle. The life of a lucky girl isn’t always perfect, by the way.

Let’s talk about Sydney‘s movie flops for a second here. She had multiple flops back to back to hit theaters.

And these movies really didn’t do well at the box office: Americana, Madame Web, Eden, and Christy all performed terribly among audiences.

For a second there, people were claiming that Sydney would be a liability to future Hollywood projects because every movie she touched ended up going south.

But in true lucky girl fashion, she pulled herself out of it by starring in The Housemaid, which ended up becoming a major success.

And not just a little success by the way. It was filmed on a production budget of $35 million and pulled in more than $250 million worldwide.

And right before her string of box office flops, she starred in the romantic comedy Anyone But You which was filmed on a budget of $25 million.

It ended up pulling in $132 million internationally. The true sign of a lucky girl is someone who objectively knows that another win is coming, even if things feel like doom and gloom for a temporary chunk of time.

Her engagement might’ve ended with Jonathon Davino, but that doesn’t mean she’s not putting herself back out there to date around and find the person who’s right for her.

Right now, the person she’s with a Scooter Braun, and it’s unclear if they’re going to stay together forever or not, but since Sydney is the type of star who embodies lucky girl syndrome, she has her pic of the litter with men and she’s free to navigate her love life as she sees fit moving forward.

But back to the concept of Sydney playing the long game to reach this point of success in her career.

Her first credited roles were in 2009 when she landed guest spots on shows like Heroes and Criminals. She’s been grinding to build a name for herself for almost two decades.

Lucky girls aren’t waiting for luck to strike them like a lottery win.

They’re actively taking inspired action to create positive change in their lives, even when they hit occasional snags in the road.
