Emily in Paris Season 3 began with Emily debating whether or not she should return to Chicago with her boss Madeline, or stay in Paris with her new boss Sylvie. Abandoning Madeline would mean Emily was betraying all senses of loyalty she had to the original company that hired her, and the reason she was relocated to Paris in the first place.
Rejecting Sylvie would mean that Emily was turning her back on an individual in the fashion industry who she highly respected and cared about. It felt like an impossible decision for Emily to make, but ultimately, she knew what the right thing to do was.
Did Emily stay in Paris or return to Chicago?
The simple answer to this question is that Emily decided to stay in Paris. It didn’t come together in the simplest or most clean-cut way, though. Emily danced back and forth between working for Madeline and Sylvie for a while because she didn’t want to upset either authoritative figure in her life.
Deep down, she knew she was going to stay in Paris with Sylvie, but breaking the news with Madeline felt way too challenging for her. When Sylvia found out that Emily was trying to have her cake and eat it too, she fired Emily on the spot. Later on, Sylvie realized how much she needed Emily’s presence in her new company and decided to hire Emily back on.
Now that Emily is head over heels in love with her lifestyle in Paris, it’s highly unlikely that she’ll ever be returning to Chicago. She has made a name for herself at her company with Sylvie and her other coworkers, which means she feels comfortable staying exactly where she is.
