The drama that’s been unfolding between Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber, and Kylie Jenner is getting messier by the day. We all know that Selena used to be in an on-again-off-again relationship with Justin Bieber before officially calling it quits in 2018.
About two months after they ended things, he was ready to marry Hailey! It seemed a bit rushed to some, but they received tons of public support nonetheless. Now, fans are calling Hailey out for bullying Selena on social media –– along with Kylie. They’ve even been compared to the Plastics from the 2004 movie Mean Girls. Here’s exactly what happened.
Selena Gomez was body shamed for bikini pics
A series of pics showcasing Selena wearing a swimsuit went viral thanks to paparazzi cameras. Online trolls started making comments about the singer’s weight and appearance. Keep in mind that Selena deals with a fluctuating body weight due to her current health conditions, including lupus and her kidney transplant.
Not long after that, Hailey linked up with Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye to post a TikTok video using a lip-syncing trend. All three of them said, “And I’m not saying she deserved it, but I’m saying God’s timing is always right.”
Fans jumped to conclusions about who the video was aimed at, suspecting it was meant for none other than Selena. Hailey responded to the situation in her TikTok comment section writing, “I never comment on this type of thing but we were just having a girls night and did a random TikTok sound for fun.” Then she deleted the video entirely.

Selena shared a silly video with her fans talking about how she accidentally laminated her eyebrows a little too much. The video was meant to be playful since Selena is known for connecting with her fans on a personal level.
Not long after that, Kylie posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call with Hailey zoomed in on their flawless eyebrows with a caption that said, “this was an accident ?????” Soon enough, Kylie and Hailey started getting dragged by social media users calling them out for mean girl behavior.
This prompted Kylie to fight back and stand up for herself. She chimed into a TikTok comment section writing, “This is reaching. no shade towards selena ever and i didn’t see her eyebrow posts! u guys are making something out of nothing. this is silly.”
Unfortunately for Kylie and Hailey, the damage is done and a lot of people simply don’t believe Kylie’s post was coincidental or random. Since then, Kylie and Hailey have been bleeding followers on Instagram while Selena has been gaining tons.
Kylie lost more than 500,000 followers while Hailey lost more than 800,000 followers. Selena, on the other hand, gained 10 million Instagram followers since all of this drama started coming to the surface. It turns out that “mean girl” behavior isn’t getting anyone very far in this day and age. A lot of fans are flocking to support Selena, knowing that she’s had fragile moments with her mental health in the past.
