Cutting your hair is a pretty big deal for people who truly care about their appearance. There’s nothing minor about getting a major haircut since it impacts the way you feel about yourself. That’s why it’s so surprising that Emily decided to cut her own hair off during Episode 1 of Emily in Paris Season 3. Emily didn’t even book herself a professional appointment at a spa or salon to get the service handled. Why exactly did she make such a drastic move?
Why did Emily cut her hair in Season 3?
The beginning of Emily in Paris Season 3 was filled with moments showcasing Emily’s stress about whether or not she should remain in Paris or return to Chicago. Her time in Paris made her genuinely fall in love with the city, the food, the people, the fashion, and everything else.
The idea of having to return home to Chicago to continue working for Madeline was making Emily feel incredibly burdened. She didn’t want to betray Madeline‘s trust or show that she was a disloyal person, but she also didn’t want to disappoint Sylvie either.
Emily’s respect for Sylvie grew in a massive way from the moment she started working alongside Sylvie in the fashion industry. Emily was riddled with anxiety and stress over the decision and ended up taking a pair of scissors to her hair and cutting bangs across her forehead.
Drastic haircuts and unexpected visual changes to one’s appearance tend to be a trauma response from people who are dealing with way too much pressure on their shoulders at one time. Fortunately for Emily, the haircut turned out amazing. It might’ve been a snap decision for the social media starlet, but she was still able to pull off the new look throughout Season 3.
