Older generations are always offering their advice to the generations beneath them. It’s up to the younger generations to take everything they learn with a grain of salt while holding onto any valuable gems of wisdom they might come across.

TikToker @melodynotevintage shared a video breaking down some of the advice she wishes she’d been taught when she was in her twenties. Her words of wisdom cover relationships, self-esteem, traveling, and more. Here’s what she had to say.

Thoughtful advice for young adults

Melody starts off her video by saying she curated her list of advice for teenagers, young adults in their twenties, and people in their very early thirties. Millennials and Gen Z’s should listen up! Her first piece of advice is that perfection is BS.

Next, she says, “You are good looking and you’ll never be more good-looking than you are today. So enjoy every day. Enjoy it today.”

After that, she encourages everyone to put their phones down to enjoy life.

Then she says, “If you’re feeling blue drink a glass of water, take a shower, go for a walk, and then see how you feel.”

Melody follows that sentence up with advice about not changing who you are for anyone. She explains that the right person won’t love you any less for being yourself. She also reminds everyone that the right person won’t love you any less based on a fluctuation of five or 10 pounds.

She says, “Don’t worry about making mistakes. Usually, people are too self-involved to notice that you’ve made a mistake. Also, making mistakes is how we learn.”

Her next gem of wisdom is to laugh at yourself.

She follows that by saying, “You can stay single a little bit longer, it’s OK.”

As her next point, she reminds everyone to stay humble.

Then Melody says, “If somebody shows you their true colors, believe them. Trust me.”

She continues by explaining that you shouldn’t dwell on your problems, but you can’t ignore them either.

The next piece of advice she offers is simply to travel.

Melody speaks on in her video a bit longer sharing more of the knowledge she wishes she received when she was a young adult. Her video is viral with over 2.4 million likes and almost 9,000 comments pf young people who are appreciative.
