People love The Office more than anything but, to be honest, some of the couples on the show should have NEVER gotten together. Some of the couples on The Office are perfect together… like Dwight & Angela or Pam & Jim, for example.
Obviously, Michael and Holly are another one of the couples from the show who wholeheartedly belong together! But the truth of the matter is that there are some couples in The Office who had no business trying to make something work. These are some of the worst.
Kelly & Ryan

Talk about toxicity at its finest! The relationship between Kelly and Ryan is one of the most despicable, toxic-filled romances to ever grace a TV screen.
They dated off and on throughout multiple seasons of the show and whenever Kelly would move onto a relationship with a guy who was much better for her (Daryll and Ravi), she still somehow ended up back in Ryan‘s arms. It’s obvious her feelings for him were real but were his ever even existent?
Michael & Jan

Where do we even begin with the tumultuous relationship of Michael and Jan. They were an absolute hot mess together. She leaned on him when she was fired from corporate and because she was dealing with the financial hardship of losing her job, she decided to move in with Michael to his condo.
From there, she began verbally berating him, bullying him at any chance she got, and treating him super horribly. When some members of the office were invited over to the dinner party they were hosting, it became very clear how toxic their relationship really was.
Pam & Roy
Why did Pam waste so much time in a terrible relationship with Roy? The answer is pretty obvious. Comfort. She was too scared to end things with him so she strung herself along in the relationship for years longer than she should have.
She always belonged with Jim and everyone watching the show could tell. She wasted years of her youth with Roy despite the fact that he never put in an ounce of effort.
Jim & Karen
Jim was like a knight in shining armor to Pam once they finally figured out they were meant to be together. But that doesn’t mean he treated the girlfriends prior to Pam with much respect at all.
In fact, Jim treated Karen like absolute trash. He got his gentleman’s card back after getting with Pam, but when he dated Karen, the short relationship negatively impacted her life for the worst. He dumped her in New York City without even explaining himself!
Angela & Andy
Angela and Andy as a couple? Total joke. She only got with Andy to make Dwight jealous after Dwight mercy killed her cat. This means the relationship between Angela and Andy was simply born out of devious plotting to some degree.
Then to make matters worse, Angela ended up cheating on Andy with Dwight leading the men to face off against each other in an office door.
Gabe & Erin
Let’s keep it totally real — Erin never really liked Gabe. She admitted at one point she only agreed to go out with him because he was her superior.
She obviously tried to make things work but it was later revealed she felt sex with him was similar to making love to a skeleton. She even said he made her cringe! They had no business dating even though he really liked her.
Michael & Helene
Pam’s mom dating Michael Scott was a disaster. Pam was so offended by the eventual break-up that she ended up hitting Michael in the face over it.
At first, Pam wasn’t comfortable with the relationship but by the time she was able to wrap her head around it, Michael wanted to end things because he felt like Helene was too old for him. The drama that ensued between these two was hilarious in the worst possible way.
Oscar & The Senator
The senator is the literal worst. He’s probably one of the worst antagonists from The Office since his intentions are never good from the very beginning. He tricks Angela into marrying him after meeting her at the heifer just so he can have his token blonde trophy wife.
Then he ends up striking up an affair with Oscar. Oscar is messed up for what he did because it was super shady, but the senator is really just one huge jerk.
Toby & Nellie
Okay… So Toby and Nellie never actually dated! But there was still something there between them for us to analyze and criticize. They kissed one time and it was so irrelevant to Nellie that she forgot the case even happened.
Toby on the other hand fully remembered the entire ordeal and thought something was going to blossom between them. The idea of these two together is actually the worst and pretty horrible to even think about so it’s great the writers didn’t pursue it any further.
Michael & Donna
The scandal between Michael and Donna is pretty upsetting to think about since Michael is typically such a pure-hearted individual. He got caught up with the wrong woman!
Unbeknownst to him, he was helping Donna cheat on her husband and when he finally found out about it, he was tempted to keep things going. When he eventually saw the error of his ways, he broke it off — but they never should have dated in the first place.
