Whenever people think of Emilia Clarke, the first role that comes to mind is usually Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. It was easy to support Daenerys throughout the first seven seasons of the show before she [SPOILER ALERT] switched it up and became evil in the eighth and final season.
In real life, Emilia is an incredibly sweet person who worked hard to achieve the success she has today. Here’s a breakdown of some of the regular jobs she had before becoming a famous actress.
Emilia Clarke had a handful of regular jobs before her big break in Hollywood.
According to Marie Claire, Emilia was “working six jobs to pay the rent” while trying to get her footing in the Hollywood industry. She had to call in sick from her catering job when it was time to go audition for Game of Thrones. It’s a good thing she pretended to be sick that day because Game of Thrones ended up becoming the career move of a lifetime.
During a red carpet appearance via Insider, she talked about getting booted from one of her positions. She said, “I did data entry for a while. I actually got fired. I had the wheelie chair and we used to do Fast Food Friday, which used to leave me really hyper, so, I’d just wheel around the office.” Data entry obviously wasn’t the right job for her, so it’s probably a good thing she got fired.
What has Emilia Clarke been up to since ‘Game of Thrones’ ended?
The final season of Game of Thrones premiered in 2019, and Emilia has been pretty low-key since then… aside from a few projects. In 2019, she starred in Last Christmas and Above Suspicion. In 2020, she starred in the movie titled Murder Manual.
In 2022, she lent her voice to an animated kids’ movie called The Amazing Maurice. It’s safe to say Emilia will never have to return to any regular jobs at any point in her life since she’s created such an incredible reality for herself as an actress.
