Although she first rose to fame as an actress playing the infamously ditzy Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s Victorious, nowadays Ariana Grande is known far more for her singing career.

With a unique voice that can span four octaves and six albums already out, the singer seems destined for fame.

But with so many songs released, it can be hard to know where to start. Here are her top songs, and how they stack up.

“Side to Side” ft Nicki Minaj

The most listened-to song is Ariana’s collaboration with rap superstar Nicki Minaj. This risque song happily describes the feeling of having so much sex you end up walking wobbly – but more than that, it’s a cheerful celebration of feminine sexuality.

Both Minaj and Grande have been vocal in their support for women to enjoy sex as they please, and this reggae-inspired song certainly supports that. It was even good enough to land on Rolling Stone’s top 50 songs for 2016: not bad for a then-23-year-old pop star!

“Break Free” ft Zedd

“Break Free” is another one of the top songs on Ariana’s Youtube channel, and with good reason. The singer took a departure from modern pop to explore electronica, and with brilliant results: the song was nominated for three different awards.

It also appeared in three different media programs. The Good Place and Glee both used the song during episodes, and the movie Sing 2 had two of the main leads sing it.

It was even used as a campaign song for a presidential candidate in the Philippines! Though it ranks fourth in Youtube views, it’s number two in our hearts!

“7 Rings”

Ariana’s anthem for enjoying the finer things in life is our third pick. Though the song leans more into the genres of hip hop and rap (with nods to Biggie Smalls), Ariana shows her willingness to mix genres as part of the tune is a nod to The Sound of Music‘s most famous song, “My Favorite Things”.

The song is a celebration of being able to finally afford the nicer things in life, as well as loving the thrill of being single and able to treat her friends to whatever they want. With a deceptively lowkey rhythm, this ode to both friendship and wealth is one of Ariana’s best.
