The first song Halsey wrote and released to SoundCloud account was “Ghost“ on February 3, 2014. By 3 AM, the song had gone completely viral and they were contacted by five separate record labels.

Halsey is very vocal when it comes to standing up for what they believe in. In 2019 they spoke out about what it takes to grow out of “internalized misogyny” and revealed what it was like to come to terms with their own gender. Their song “Nightmare“ is one she describes as an angry anthem aimed at anyone who might cause them to question their own self-worth.
