We have good news for fans of Taylor Swift who never really liked Joe Alwyn very much –– they’re officially over!
According to Entertainment Tonight, Taylor and Joe are dunzo after six long years of dating. So… what exactly happened?

Why did Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn break up?
So far, all we know about the breakup is that it wasn’t riddled with any major issues or scandals. A source revealed, “It was not dramatic. The relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows.”
Taylor and Joe originally started dating back in 2016 and seemed to be on a great journey together. In fact, he even helped her write lyrics to several of her songs.
In 2021, Joe won a Grammy Award for his contributions to Taylor’s albums. You’ll recognize his lyricism in both Folklore and Evermore in Champagne Problems,” “Coney Island,” “Exile,” “Betty,” and “Evermore.”
Why they broke up is a mystery for now, but Taylor will probably describe what happened in songs we’ll listen to sometime in the future.
Joe Alwyn wasted Taylor Swift’s time without plans for marriage
From an outsider’s perspective, it seems pretty clear that Joe wasted six years of Taylor’s time without any marriage plans.
Taylor’s written plenty of songs about wanting to be a wife and about her desire to be married. It’s not a secret that she was likely hoping for that outcome. Just listen to “Love Story” one more time if you disagree.
Joe, unfortunately, never appeared to be on the same page. When asked about getting engaged to Tatylor he told WSJ. Magazine, “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins. I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”
Like… PUKE!
He also previously talked about the situation with British Vogue via People saying, “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private and that has now sunk in for people … but I really prefer to talk about work.”
There’s something very unlikable about him. Anyway, we’ll have to wait and see what’s next for Taylor in the romance department. Hopefully, the next man she dates is on the same page with her about her future.
