It’s been quite some time since Lana Del Rey splashed onto the music scene, making an impact on society. Her music has changed so many people’s lives by being incredibly relatable and vulnerable.
Lana revealed that there is a specific lyric she is no longer willing to sing on stage during her concerts moving forward. Here’s what diehard fans should know if you’re hoping to hear her perform this particular song at some point in the future.
“He hit me and it felt like a kiss”
As much as you might adore Lana’s song “Ultraviolence” from her 2014 album of the same name, you probably won’t hear her sing the song on stage anymore.
If she does sing the song, she’s going to skip the line that says, “he hit me, and it felt like a kiss.”
She explained her decision to axe the line in a 2017 interview with Pitchfork. She said, “I don’t like [the line]. I don’t. I don’t sing it. I sing ‘Ultraviolence’ but I don’t sing that line anymore. Having someone be aggressive in a relationship was the only relationship I knew.”
She further explained, “I’m not going to say that that [lyric] was 100 percent true, but I do feel comfortable saying what I was used to was a difficult, tumultuous relationship, and it wasn’t because of me. It didn’t come from my end.”
Lana has been through her fair share of toxic and abusive relationships in the past. Those relationships are the reason why she’s been able to come up with such brooding and heavy lyrics over the years.
