If you’re in the middle of a weight loss journey, but you’re not seeing the results you’ve been hoping for, there might be an underlying issue.

Weight loss isn’t easy for anyone, but it’s even more challenging for people who are struggling with high cortisol levels.

TikToker and fat loss coach @HealthyLynlee shared a couple of videos breaking down the signs that show up if you have high cortisol levels.

She was also kind enough to share a video highlighting some of the things you can do to solve this issue.

Five signs you have high cortisol levels

According to Lynlee, you should take note of it if you’re consistently waking up between 2 and 4 am every night.

The second sign is your ongoing struggle to get rid of belly fat no matter what you do. The third sign is a struggle with salt and sugar cravings.

The fourth sign is that you’re exhausted and fatigued all day, but you’re still wired with insomnia at night. The fifth sign is that you simply don’t feel hungry in the mornings.

Five ways you can lower your cortisol levels

Lynley posted an additional video with five suggestions on how to lower your cortisol levels. She says you should be consuming a balanced diet filled with protein, carbs, and healthy fats for every single meal.

You should start lifting weights and avoid any high-intensity cardio workouts. Instead, opt for daily walks.

She says to aim for seven to nine hours of sleep every night while prioritizing stress management techniques. In other words, you should be pursuing as much self-care as humanly possible.
