As a country known for its geothermal pools, dramatic waterfalls, and prime views of the Northern Lights, Iceland already has a lot to offer.
TikToker @travelingwithjoce lets us know about one more Icelandic perk: it’s considered the safest country in the world! Here are a few things that make Iceland so safe:
There are not a lot of harmful animals
Iceland doesn’t have mosquitos, ticks, bears, snakes, or poisonous spiders. The only predator they have in the animal kingdom is the arctic fox – an adorable little animal who stays out of humans’ ways.
Iceland has a super low crime rate
And an even lower rate when it comes to violent crime. There’s virtually none! Because Iceland is a close-knit community with a small population, crime is not something that most people have to worry about here.
Iceland has a very small population
About that close-knit community…Iceland has a very low population which causes people to look after one another. The capital city of Reykjavik only has 200,000 people!
Iceland has amazing air quality
Because it’s located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, Iceland doesn’t really have any sources of pollution. People who go to Iceland often say that they notice the air quality the second they step off the plane. Fresh air aplenty!
Parents let their toddlers and infants nap outside in their strollers
Even in its biggest city, you’ll find sidewalks dotted with strollers. Parents will go inside coffee shops to order or even do their grocery shopping by themselves and let their toddlers and infants nap outside in the fresh air. Without fear, why not?!
Want a place to experience adventure while still staying safe? Iceland’s the place for you!
