When Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez first started dating in 2010, both of their fan bases quickly grew obsessed with their blossoming romance. They continued dating off and on for eight years.

During the “off” moments of their relationship, Justin spent time dating Hailey Bieber, formally known as Hailey Baldwin. After Selena and Justin’s final split in 2018, he tied the knot with Hailey in New York City at the end of that same year.

Since so many people are convinced that there was an overlap between Justin’s relationships with Selena and Hailey, Hailey has been on the receiving end of a lot of harsh criticism and judgment from the public.

A breakdown of the drama between Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez

Hailey appeared on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast to address rumors that she “stole” Justin from Selena. She confirmed that she and Justin waited to make things official until after he was completely done dating Selena.

It appears that Selena never saw an issue with how Hailey described the situation, because the singer posed with the model for a series of stunning pictures at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ 2nd annual gala in Los Angeles.

The impromptu photo opp opened the door to tons of questions from fans about where Selena and Hailey stood with one another.

Based on how comfortable they looked beside each other in all the photos, it seemed that a friendship between the two wasn’t the most unrealistic concept.

For a long time, Selena’s fan base has been in attack mode against Hailey and Justin on every social media platform – and Justin‘s fan base has done the same thing right back to Selena.

Selena and Hailey’s pictures together could have been the white flag of peace that was needed to bring an end to the long-lasting feud that dominated the world of pop culture for so long.

Instead, the feud lives on after Hailey linked up with Kylie Jenner to post an Instagram story that allegedly made fun of Selena’s eyebrows. Now, the idea of Hailey and Selena ever making peace feels very unattainable and out of reach.

Selena Gomez posted an Instagram story that said, “Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

Hailey posted a response on her Instagram story after that saying, “I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I.”

Hailey went on to say, “The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved in millions of people are seeing so much hate around this, which is extremely harmful. While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this only create extreme division instead of bringing people together.”

Although Selena told her fans to chill out on social media, it’s still unclear if Hailey and Selena will ever actually be friends.
