Zooey Deschanel is most loved for her quirky (and slightly awkward) role as Jess from the Fox hit sitcom, New Girl. She is one of the pioneers of the twee aesthetic and is a part of the music duo, She & Him with M Ward.
Besides New Girl, Zooey has quite the filmography under her belt as well. She starred in iconic movies such as Elf, Almost Famous, 500 Days of Summer, and more. But what is she up to now, following her amazing seven-year run on primetime television?

There has been a lot of speculation about what the singer-songwriter actress has been up to since the series finale of New Girl. Some say she’s been working as a producer while others have tried to say Zooey quit acting for good.
There is even a rumor that Zooey is planning to make a huge comeback to the screen with a major role, however, nothing has been confirmed by Zooey or anyone for that matter. So, here’s what she’s actually been up to the past few years.
Zooey is currently dating one of the Property Brothers, Jonathan Scott, and the couple recently celebrated their three-year anniversary back in August. Zooey has been continuing her music career with She & Him and went on tour back in 2019.
The Grammy-nominated actress has also created a podcast revisiting New Girl with former co-stars Hannah Simone and Lamorne Johnson. Zooey was even the host of a variety show called The Celebrity Dating Game with the elusive Michael Bolton back in 2021. The show was canceled after one season and that would be the last time we see Deschanel on screen.
For the most part, it seems that Zooey has taken a break from acting and is currently focusing on raising the two kids she has from her previous marriage with Jacob Penchinek.
