Every single Disney princess is special for her own reasons with magical storylines and happy endings.

There’s something a little different about Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Mulan from her self-named movie, though.

Both of these Disney princesses made huge sacrifices for their fathers because of their selfless love.

Bell and Mulan both saved their fathers

In Beauty and the Beast, Belle made a deal with the Beast to trade places with her father in captivity.

Her father had already been captured by the Beast, and Belle couldn’t emotionally accept that reality.

She offered herself up as a replacement to be held captive in the Beast’s castle, in exchange for the release of her father.

Mulan also saved her father’s life by going to war on his behalf. She knew he was too elderly and frail to survive the war, so she did what she believed was necessary.

She chopped off her hair and pretended to be a boy so no one would be able to tell the difference.

Disney princesses like Sleeping Beauty and Snow White are sweet to read about and watch in their respective movies, but they certainly didn’t make sacrifices as big as Belle or Mulan.

Belle and Mulan‘s decisions to save their fathers put their own lives at risk. They cared more about protecting their fathers than personal survival.

They showcased an endless amount of courage and bravery by making the choices they made.
