Getting engaged is one of the most exciting moments ever. Don’t let the moment be ruined because your engagement ring doesn’t properly fit right away.
If the person proposing to you wants you to be completely surprised about them popping the questions, odds are they won’t be inquiring with you about your ring size.
If they know asking questions about ring size will ruin the surprise, they might opt for taking their best guess about your ring size. Unfortunately, guesses aren’t always accurate.
An ill-fitting engagement ring is a liability

If your fiancé guessed that your hands are a lot smaller than they are, it’s possible your ring doesn’t fully slide onto your finger at all.
If they guessed that your hands are a lot bigger than they are, it’s possible your ring is way too loose and easily able to slide right off at any moment.
Either way, this puts you in a very precarious situation. Being unable to comfortably wear the ring means you have to hold onto it in a safe place.
Follows these steps if your ring doesn’t perfectly fit
- Immediately put the ring somewhere it won’t get lost such as a lockbox or safe.
- Call your insurance company to get it insured.
- Schedule an appointment at the jeweler to get it resized.
The ring can get lost if you’re unable to wear it on your hand right away. Don’t let that happen. Store it somewhere safely, insure it, and wait until your jeweler appointment.
Once the ring has been properly resized to fit you, you won’t have to worry about it getting stuck at your knuckle or falling off somewhere random.
