In today’s tech-obsessed world, social media may be the ideal venue for virtual tourists around the world to display the world’s beauty, but travel is about so much more than obtaining that perfect Instagram picture.

Travel should be purposeful. It should thrill and motivate you, refresh and center you, teach and challenge you, and most importantly, humble you. Here are some reasons why traveling the globe should be prioritized in everyone’s lives.

Creating memories

Travel provides us with our most memorable tales, most treasured recollections, and numerous priceless lessons that we can choose to pass on to others.

It teaches us about ourselves and each other, broadens our views, and pushes us to concentrate on what truly matters, much like a restart button.

Becoming cultured

Travel introduces us to new countries and old customs, and it is through these genuine encounters that we learn to accept and enjoy both our similarities and differences.

Travel teaches us about humanity and instills in us an awareness, knowledge, and reverence for diverse perspectives and methods of living.

Escaping the mundane

Travel helps us to get away from life’s everyday demands, conflicts, and obligations and clear our thoughts.

It motivates us to replenish our batteries and disengage completely (from phones, Wi-Fi, emails, computers, social media, and so on) to reconnect. (with ourselves, each other, and the natural environment).

Abandoning comfort zones

Travel forces us to leave our comfort zones and see, experience, and attempt new things. It continuously challenges us to not only adapt to and investigate new surroundings, but also to interact with new people, accept new and important experiences, and share them with friends and loved ones.

Making dreams come true

Every traveler’s wish list is unique. If you want to watch the sunset over the Taj Mahal, trek on the side of an active volcano, see Africa’s Big Five and the Great Migration, or discover your Zen on a Himalayan yoga retreat, you can do it.

Travel is the best therapy, and may it continue to take our breath away and turn us all into stories for as long as it is possible. (and committed custodians of our precious planet).
