You know the old phrase “dress for the job you want, not the job you have”? Well, it’s actually really good advice – but take the job part out of it, and replace it with your LIFE.
Dress for the life you want, not the life you have.
If you’re down in the dumps because you’ve just been dumped, or you dumped someone who wasn’t right for you, it’s okay to dress like a lazy slob for a little while.
Heartbreak hurts, which means it can be difficult to find the motivation needed to put on a cute outfit and do your hair.
Regardless of the sadness that might be encompassing you right now, sometimes you need to ignore the dark thoughts creeping in and get ready for the day anyway.
You don’t have to treat every normal day like you’re about to walk a runway, but if you’re leaving the house, you should put forth at least a little bit of effort. This step will help you move forward in life as a single woman.
Why dressing cute after becoming single is important

When you look good, it helps you feel good. When you feel bad about your appearance every time you walk past a mirrored reflection, it makes whatever hardship you’re going through feel a thousand times worse.
When you dress for the life you want, you’re telling the universe that you’re ready for that life to become your reality.
Staying in your pajamas all day tells the universe you want to stay in a depressive state with negative thoughts.
If you skip washing and combing your hair too many days in a row, it tells the universe you simply can’t be bothered because you don’t care about yourself enough.
If you’re convinced that “doing the most” with your appearance is going to annoy you or overwhelm you, then you can always start small.
Take a shower, brush your hair, spritz some perfume on, and pull on some cute clothes that are equally comfy.
When you’re really ready to upgrade your style though, that’s where the magic of a post-breakup glow-up begins.
