It’s hard to remember a time when HBO’s Game of Thrones wasn’t on everyone’s lips. Debuting in April 2011, it quickly took the world by storm, becoming a common water-cooler conversation as every episode had such shocking twists and turns.
Spanning 8 seasons and netting an incredible 59 Emmy awards, there are few television series that have had such a significant cultural impact in recent memory.
Emilia Clarke was one of the main stars, playing the fierce Daenerys Targaryen, who allies herself with dragons and fights to reclaim what she sees as her rightful throne. But how much did she make during those eight seasons?
How much money did Emilia Clarke earn from ‘Game of Thrones’?
Over the course of eight jaw-dropping seasons, Clarke proved herself an incredibly capable actress, giving depth and nuance as her character transformed from a fragile girl to a self-possessed powerhouse who led an army of millions.
While it’s hard to ascertain year to year, we know from IMDB by Seasons 5 and 6, she was making a breathtaking $300,000 per episode – which, if you don’t feel like doing the math, means she took home a jaw-dropping $6,000,000 over the course of two years.
But her salary was only growing: by the final season, Clarke reportedly was making $1.2 million per episode, netting her a little more than 7 million by the end of the last season.
There’s no doubt she earned those pay raises – though the last season was not universally beloved, critics had nothing but praise for Clarke’s acting and her eagerness to see her character’s arc through.
