There’s a huge divide among members of society about whether or not it’s a good idea for women to travel alone.
The argument in support says women should never have to pause their lives or slow down their travel plans to wait on friends or romantic partners to join them in exploration.
The argument against solo traveling states that it’s a huge safety risk.
Regardless of where you fall on this spectrum, plenty of women are going to continue traveling solo if they choose to make that happen for themselves.
TikToker @TrulyKhali shared a video breaking down how she was able to keep herself safe as a solo traveler during one of her trips.

Khali started her video by explaining that she wants to spread awareness about what happened to her to help others who might also need this knowledge.
She explained that she saw a few male guests and employees taking notice of her while she was checking into her hotel.
The men made her feel paranoid so she decided to barricade the doors to her hotel room with an ottoman and chair.
Khali was still unable to feel peaceful or restful with the setup she arranged as she was trying to fall asleep.
She decided to push the large hotel couch in front of the entry doors instead.
Around 5 am, Khali finally fell asleep. She woke up to several knocks on the door about three hours after that. Fortunately, she went back to sleep without opening the door.
When she was ready to leave her hotel room the following day, she noticed that her hotel door had been unlocked from the outside.
In other words, someone fully unlocked her door with a key card from the outside but they were unable to actually enter because she successfully barricaded herself inside.
From what it sounds like, the hotel employees and guests could have been in cahoots about trying to gain access to Khali’s room.
The moral of the story? Barricading yourself inside your hotel room as a solo traveler could ultimately save your life.
Push any heavy objects you can find in front of your door to keep yourself as safe as possible.
