You’re not chasing a number, you’re chasing a look

Nicole explains that a certain look you’re trying to achieve might actually weigh more than you’d ever guess.

Her advice is to stop obsessing over the scale so much.

There’s no perfect macro split

Nicole says, “It’s been proven time and time again that as long as protein and calories are in check, it does not matter where carbs and fats fall.”

She continues, “Stop letting coaches try to sell you on these magical splits. Give yourself flexibility, hit your calories, hit your protein, watch your body transform.”

Sleep and stress management should be prioritized

If you thought your gym workouts were more important than managing your sleep and stress, you’d be wrong. Nicole explains, “Managing stress and sleep is a hell of a lot more important than your gym sessions.”

She goes on to say, “If you’re sleeping like sh** and your body is stressed, the f*** out, do you think it’s going to want to do the damn thing? Probably not!”

Whole food sources should make up 90% of your diet

Nicole says that if you can fit a donut into your macros for the day, be sure to log it and move on with your life – but don’t forget that 90% of your diet should be coming from whole food sources.

In other words, you should be pursuing single-ingredient items when it comes to what you’re grabbing out of your kitchen.

Avoiding food that comes from prepackaged sources is an easy way to make sure you’re testing the right meals.

Track for the short-term, not the long-term

The number one goal when starting a weight loss journey is to reach a point where you no longer have to track every food item that passes through your lips.

Your goal should be to get to a place where you can intuitively eat food without having to log everything you’re consuming for the rest of your life.

Nicole explains that tracking is a great starting point because it creates awareness and helps you move toward your goals.

Still, it’s not something you should feel stuck doing for the rest of your life.
