It’s difficult to recognize and accept that the relationship that you and your partner have isn’t the one you believed it to be.

Toxic relationships come in many forms of abuse – verbal, psychical, emotional, and even financial.

TikToker @sistalkswithsahar has the best advice for how to let go of a toxic relationship as she struggled with finding the strength to leave the wrong partner a few years ago.

Know when to walk away from a toxic relationship

Your partner can make you feel insignificant to the point where you begin to question everything about yourself.

Your self-worth can be diminished to the point where you feel like nothing you do matters and it slowly begins to chip at you.

In the end, you’re the one heartbroken because you feel like you’re the one at fault. You feel like there’s no way out. This simply isn’t the truth.

Sahar said that not even her friends were able to convince her to let go and she that she didn’t believe in herself.

“I didn’t think I was gonna find love again,” she said.

The toxicity makes you believe that there’s nothing better than the “love” you have now. It’s important to allow yourself to see the good person that you are.

“You have no idea the type of love that’s in store for you,” she said.

You need to search within yourself for that self-esteem that’s been constricted and learn to love yourself again to accept that you’re deserving of everything good in the world, especially love.

“You deserve love,” she said. “Not in the form of this man.”

There’s a life beyond this man that’s belittled you. Accepting this truth is the first step in permitting yourself to let go.
