Inviting your best friends, sisters, cousins, and other cherished loved ones to be bridesmaids is one of the best parts of wedding planning.

It means you’re not alone through the process of planning your wedding, celebrating your bachelorette party, and feeling supported by people who care about you during one of the most pivotal moments of your life.

There’s no denying that wedding planning can be stressful, but it gets a lot easier when your closest friends are nearby.

That being said, you want to make sure your bridesmaids feel loved and appreciated for agreeing to be part of your big day.

Agreeing to be one of your bridesmaids isn’t exactly beneficial to anyone other than YOU, so the gifts you choose to give your bridesmaids should make them feel more inclined to be by your side!

It’s important to be thoughtful and creative with your bridesmaids’ gift ideas. TikToker and wedding commentator, Celesta shared a video breaking down three items she doesn’t think bridesmaids want to receive anymore.

Anything that says “bridesmaid” on it

Celesta explains that when you purchase tons of items that say “bridesmaid” on them for your bridesmaids, the only time they’ll ever be able to wear those pieces is during your wedding planning process.

After your wedding comes to an end, they’ll have no place to wear their bridesmaid gear, rendering it all sort of useless. This means bridesmaid slippers, hoodies, jewelry, and more shouldn’t necessarily be at the top of your list.

Lip oil and other overpriced beauty products

Celesta advises against purchasing overpriced lip oils for your bridesmaids. Although you might think you’re doing them a great service by purchasing beauty products that cost loads of money, most people who wear makeup prefer picking out their own items.

Each of your bridesmaids has her own preferences when it comes to makeup colors, pallets, and brands. If you blindly take a guess at beauty products you think everyone will like, odds are, you’ll be wrong about at least one or two of the bridesmaids in your group.

Plastic water bottles

The last item on Celesta’s list to avoid is plastic water bottles. She says that society has reached a point in time where plastic water bottles are no longer considered acceptable.

If you insist on buying water bottles for the bridesmaids in your bridal party, opt for stainless steel options instead.

At least with stainless steel water bottles, water will stay cold throughout the day. Plastic water bottles don’t do anything other than hold water in one place. There’s no temperature control and they simply take up space.
