The importance of practicing self-love is undeniable.

Yet, for some reason, too many people neglect their needs, talk down to themselves, and fill their minds with criticism at all hours of the day.

Sometimes, it’s best to give yourself some grace in the midst of everything you might have going on.

TikToker @AverageSisi, aka Sierra, shared a video breaking down some of the simple ways you can start showing yourself love right away.

Sierra explains, “You’re going to be fine this week because you’re going to take care of yourself. And here’s how… it’s really simple.”

Take breaks

Sierra says, “You’re going to take as many breaks as you need and you’re not going to let anyone make you feel guilty about them.”

Whether you’re a student or a worker, taking breaks is crucial for your mental health.

Stock up on snacks

She continues, “You’re going to go to the store or Instacart… and get at least three of your favorite snacks and drinks for snack time.”

Having your favorite foods available can be an instant mood booster.

Practice patience

Sierra says, “You’re going to be patient with yourself this week because we deserve it. And who better to command it from than ourselves?”

It’s okay to cut yourself some slack by being patient as you grow and evolve.

Social communication

She goes on, “We’re going to call our absolute very best friend, and when they ask how we are, we’re going to be honest.”

Opening up to friends about whatever’s going on is a great way to get things off your chest so you can heal and move forward.

Plan a nice dinner

Sierra says, “We’re going to plan at least one extravagant meal for the week. It doesn’t have to be extravagant in the way that it’s expensive, but it has to be extravagant in the way that you love it.”

Whether a nice dinner in your eyes is from Chipotle or Buca de Beppo, pencil it into your schedule.

Get some exercise

She says, “We’ll move our body when it feels good, and we’ll rest when it feels good. We won’t shame ourselves for either decision.”

Exercise is a great stress reliever, but if you’re not feeling up for it every single day, it’s perfectly alright to rest.

Engage in positive self-talk

Sierra continues, “We’re going to remind ourselves that we are not behind and we have so much time. We are allowed to change our minds as many times as we want.”

Being gentle with yourself is a wonderful sign of self-love in motion.

Dress accordingly

She says, “We’re only going to wear clothes that make us feel good and we’ll start donating the ones that don’t. We’re going to be fine this week because we are taking care of ourselves and that’s what we do!“

Implementing some of Sierra’s tips will help you start feeling better about yourself and your circumstances right away.

No one wants to be weighed down by misery, loneliness, or low self-esteem.

Start chipping away at the negativity and watch yourself emerge on the other side with a better and more positive outlook on life.
