Swifties, pat yourselves on the back and get ready to party like it’s 1989.
It’s official, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is the next stop in Taylor Swift’s journey to reclaim her masters.
An exciting update about Taylor Swift’s new music
On 8/9, the day of her final U.S. show, Taylor gave Swifties easter eggs in true Taylor fashion.
Taylor Nation, Taylor’s social media team, posted an encrypted message that Swifites have no issue with decrypting.
They came to the conclusion that the numbers in the post add to 89, but this suspicious post wasn’t the only thing that caught the fans’ attention throughout the night.
Taylor debuted new costumes in the color blue, the color the fans and Taylor associate with 1989. A new dress for the Speak Now, Folklore, and 1989 sections of the show.
During the 1989 set, Taylor’s official website changed to a blue background with seagulls, referencing the album’s original cover art where Taylor is wearing a blue and white crew neck with seagulls.
Fans began to speculate about this announcement before the L.A. shows began.
Their clues were the date 8/9, a new bodysuit during the Midnight’s set that resembles a bodysuit she wore during her 1989 tour back in 2015, and the music video of “The Man”, a song on her album Lover.
A scene in the music video seems to hint at the order Taylor plans on releasing her re-recorded albums. 1989 followed Speak Now.
Then, the moment came!
Right before she performed “New Romantics” as the surprise song, Taylor confirmed that 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will be released later this year on Oct. 27th, exactly nine years since the original album’s release.
With this gift to her fans, Taylor concluded her U.S. leg of the Eras Tour.
