Tom Holland has been very busy with his latest project The Crowded Room, recently released on Apple TV.

The Spider-Man actor served as an executive producer and main character in the limited series as a young man accused of committing a violent crime in 1979 Manhattan.

Tom recently went to press with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution to discuss the project and the result of his decision to take some much-needed time off after filming wrapped.

Tom Holland is taking a much-needed break

Tom mentions that although the work was very rewarding, “Being a producer dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set added that extra level of pressure.”

Tom describes how eventually, the extensive impact on his mental health came to a head.

“I’m no stranger to hard work. I’ve always lived by this idea that hard work is good work… But then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where I was like, ‘I need to have a break.’”

The question of work impacting mental health has been an increasing focus in recent social arenas, one of which Holland has full support.

He mentioned in an August interview, “There is an awful stigma against mental health, and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn’t something that we should be ashamed of, but it is something that is much easier said than done.”

Occasionally, the fruits of our labor necessitate a well-deserved pause and an opportunity for self-reflection on our mental well-being.

Even Spider-Man needs a break.
