Unless posting sexy selfies, aka thirst traps, is something you’ve always done, don’t immediately start posting them in the heat of the moment during a breakup.

Thirst traps from a newly single person often scream that a person is seeking validation and attention. Here’s why you might want to skip this trend.

The validation and attention you receive aren’t always positive since they can often be shrouded with judgment based on how edgy your thirsty traps are.

Posting thirst traps might be perfectly on-brand for you, which means there is no reason to pause your usual social media activities.

But if all you’ve ever posted online are pictures of your food, selfies with your dog, and sunset views from your backyard, it won’t make tons of sense for you to start posting sexy mirror pics in lingerie or bikinis.

Remember that your digital footprint will exist online forever. If you choose to post something extra revealing in the midst of an emotional breakdown, it will forever exist on the internet long after you choose to delete it from your own profile.

Anyone who sees your content can screenshot and save it to share with whoever they want for the rest of your life.

Deleting an image you regret posting might not make any difference in the long haul.

The idea of showing your ex what they’re missing out on is a common thought to have while going through a breakup, but take solace in knowing they’ll have to accept that they’re missing out on a future with you whether you post those thirst traps or not.
