We’ve got bad news for fans of How I Met Your Father. Hulu decided to cancel the show after two short seasons.
Hilary Duff led the show as Sophie, a woman sharing the story of how she met her children’s father.
Now that the show is over, fans are wondering why.
Why was ‘How I Met Your Father’ canceled without a conclusion?
The answer is simple when it comes to why How I Met Your Father was canceled before it’s third season.
Deadline says the cancellation decision comes straight from Hulu. Although they didn’t specify the reason why, it’s pretty obvious this spinoff wasn’t as well-received by viewers as expected.
How I Met Your Mother was a hit with nine seasons, but this spinoff just didn’t match that vibe.
How I Met Your Father isn’t the only show to get the axe. Hulu also canceled their comedy show The Great after three seasons.
Along with Hilary, actors Chris Lowell, Francia Raisa, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Suraj Sharma worked together to create a lovable cast.
How I Met Your Father focused on the troubles that come along with trying to find love in your 30s during a time when dating apps have made hook-up culture way too common.
Anyone struggling to find love in real life was likely able to find a unique sense of solidarity with the characters.
For that reason, it’s quite odd that the show was canceled before Hilary’s character was even able to tell her kids how she met their father.
Unfortunately, the mystery of how the show ends will be up in the air – unless the show runners decide to reveal some of those details at some point.
