The insanity of Spring Breakers will live on forever for a multitude of reasons. The 2012 film exists as a true gem in pop culture history.

The storyline is ridiculously out of control. It’s about a group of college students who rob a diner so they’ll have enough cash to spend spring break in Florida partying it up.

After getting arrested at a party in Florida, they find themselves wrapped up in some serious trouble with a dangerous drug dealer played by James Franco.

The cast of Spring Breakers is what made the movie truly so amazing. If you didn’t understand the gravity of its artistry when it first premiered, try watching it again and you’ll see that it may quickly become a cult classic in your eyes.

Evidently, Emma Roberts was originally supposed to be cast in the movie. Here’s what went down.

Emma Roberts turned down her role in ‘Spring Breakers’

If Emma had agreed to star in Spring Breakers, we wouldn’t have seen Ashley Benson take on the flirtatiously sociopathic role of Brit.

Honestly, this was a good thing. It all worked out for the best.

Ashley did an AMAZING job playing Brit, the fearlessly intense party girl of her social circle.

Ashley vibed with Vanessa Hudgens’ character on-screen in a significant way. The chemistry between Vanessa and Ashley was undeniable.

Let’s be real – The movie probably wouldn’t have been as aggressively sexy if it wasn’t for the combination of Vanessa and Ashley together.

Selena Gomez obviously added another layer of perfection to Spring Breakers, but Ashley is the actress who wouldn’t have made the cut if Emma had moved forward.

It’s a good thing it all worked out the way it did.
