Paris will forever be considered one of the most, romantic, magical, and blissful places to live or travel to.

Still, there are some things you should be wary of before zipping up your luggae and hopping on a flight.

It’s best to travel to new places with your eyes wide open to avoid dealing with the heartache of getting robbed.

TikToker and Paris resident @AmericanFille, also known as Amanda, shared a video breaking down a common pickpocketing trend in Paris to watch out for.

Never dance with a stranger in Paris

Amanda says that it’s totally unacceptable for someone in Paris to try to come up to you and touch you in any form, fashion, or manner.

More specifically, she says, “Run! Because they’re trying to rob you. Whether they put their arm around you, or they pretend to dance with you, or they pretend to be drunk… if someone in the street comes up to you and tries to touch you, get out of there because they’re about to rob you.”

Amanda deals with a handful of social media naysayers who aren’t convinced she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to the pick-pocketers of Paris.

In reality, she knows exactly what she’s talking about because it’s personally happened to her, she’s witnessed it happening, and she’s prevented it from happening to others more than once.

In her video, she shares a clip of a man in Paris playfully dancing with a tourist.

While the pick-pocketer does a dancing leg trick, he slips his hand into the tourist’s pocket to steal an iPhone.

The pick-pocketer certainly didn’t want his grift to be caught on camera, but sure enough, we now have the footage as proof that these types of scams DO exist.

When you picture someone coming up to you to share a playful dance, it’s supposed to be a high-vibrational moment that’s fun and enjoyable.

But there’s nothing fun and enjoyable about having the contents of your pockets stolen.

Don’t let anyone dance with you. Don’t let anyone “drunkenly” lean against you. Don’t let anyone touch you in any way while traveling to Paris.

In fact, this is a great tip to keep in mind regardless of where you go. Paris certainly isn’t the only place with a theft issue running rampant.
