Stop hiding in your phone

All too often we bury our faces in our phones while in public. Partially because we, as a society, are obsessed with technology.

But, we also do it with an anxious mindset. The thought of, “If I pay no attention to them, they’ll pay no attention to me.”

In reality, that is so far from the truth.

Predators can easily spot their victims

Jordan explains that scientific research proves that people with psychopathic tendencies can pick out a victim strictly by their body language.

They develop skills to pick out who is weak and vulnerable.

She explains that Ted Bundy himself said, “I could tell a victim by how she walked down the street.”

How should I carry myself?

So, how should you carry yourself?

Stand with your feet planted firmly to the ground, so that you’re not easily knocked off balance.

Walk with confidence. Put your shoulders back, look forward, and make yourself aware of your surroundings. Jordan specifically says, “Walk like you’ve got somewhere to be.”

She leaves us with these exact words, “Walk with purpose. Stand with purpose. Be mindful of how you’re presenting yourself to the world around you.”

Practice makes perfect

Next time you’re out and about, be intentional with your body language.

When you’re standing still, ask yourself, “Would I fail if someone attacked me right now?” When you’re walking, ask yourself, “Am I completely aware of my environment at this moment?”

Practice your stance, practice your walk, and always protect yourself.
