It takes a massive leap of faith to launch your own business. Becoming a business owner is incredibly daunting, which is why so many people hold back from getting started.
The Small Business Blog conducted a study to uncover which states are most likely to be full of people willing to start their own small businesses. Here’s what they discovered.
10 states full of potential entrepreneurs

Some states are full of people who are absolutely sick and tired of answering to a boss.
These individuals might be willing to do whatever it takes to launch successful businesses for their own peace of mind and happiness.
Based on Google searches, the residents of these states are interested in side hustles, small businesses, and entrepreneurship.
- Utah snags first place
- Arizona comes in second place
- Colorado is in third place.
- New York is fourth.
- Nevada is fifth.
- Nebraska is sixth.
- Georgia is seventh.
- Oregon is eighth
- Pennsylvania and Texas tie for ninth.
- Missouri rounds out the list in 10th place.
The people living in Mississippi don’t seem interested in side hustles or starting their own businesses at all. That’s the state with the least number of people attempting these Google searches.
A representative from The Small Business Blog spoke on the topic saying, “The cost of living across America has risen drastically and it has become necessary for many households to seek additional sources of income whether this be in the form of a side hustle or a fully-fledged small business.
“In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report there has been an 8.29% increase since 2021 of Americans having more than one job.
“With this in mind, the data provides an interesting insight into the disparities across America for interest in starting a new business venture with Utah having nearly double the interest compared to Mississippi.”
Truth be told, Americans aren’t desperate to do more work than they have to. They simply want to figure out viable ways to make ends meet.
If small business, side hustles, and entrepreneurship are the way to do that, tons of Americans are open-minded and interested.
