Have you ever pictured your favorite character in a movie being played by someone else?

Well, that was almost the case in the movie La La Land. The role of Mia was almost portrayed by Emma Watson!

The movie was a winner for the season, it made millions of dollars, and it even earned Emma Stone (the actress who played Mia) an Oscar for Best Actress. What if that had been Emma Watson instead?

Emma Watson chose ‘Beauty and the Beast’ over ‘La La Land’

Much talk was going around about why Emma Watson would pass up the incredible award and fame with La La Land, but thankfully, the young actress has cleared the air.

According to Emma Watson, accepting the role in La La Land would have been a big commitment as when the offer came in, she was already filming the live-action version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

As told in an interview with ITV, Emma Watson said, “With a movie like Beauty and the Beast, it’s like three months prep, it’s like three to four months shooting, and it’s in the UK.”

Emma Watson explained, “I had to be there to do that and, as I said before, it’s like you can’t half-a** a project like this; you are in, or you’re out.”

Though we can’t help but imagine what it would have been like if Emma Watson had taken this major role, we are comforted by her choice.

Emma Stone always shares wonderful onscreen chemistry with Ryan Gosling, after all. The two filmed Gangster Squad and Crazy, Stupid, Love together as well.
