While some fanbases were happy about the winners at the 2024 Grammys, other fanbases were not so amused.
Lana Del Rey‘s devoted fanbase were left frustrated as the songstress once again found herself on the wrong side of recognition.
Despite amassing a staggering 11 nominations over the years, Lana has yet to secure a coveted Grammy win.
A reality that has left fans rallying behind the hashtag #JusticeForLana.
Social media rejoices
Lana, nominated for five awards this year, faced another round of setbacks.
Her album “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” received nods in five categories, including Best Alternative Music Performance, Best Alternative Music Album, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
While the two general field awards were always going to be an uphill battle given her competition, there was hope she would have enough support to win in the genre categories.
Lana ultimately lost Best Alternative Music Album to boygenius, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance to SZA & Phoebe Bridgers, and Best Alternative Music Performance to Paramore.
Adding salt to the wound was the victory of Jack Antonoff, a renowned producer, who won the Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical category for his work on Lana’s album.
What made fans more furious is the fact that despite lending her vocals to Taylor Swift‘s album “Midnights,” Lana’s contributions were deemed insufficient under the Academy’s revised guidelines.
This new rule denied her the opportunity to share in the accolades given to Taylor’s project.
Despite the bitter disappointment of the evening, Lana’s elegance emerged as a beacon of light amid the gloom.
Gothic ensemble
Adorned in a gothic ensemble, Lana captivated onlookers with her ethereal presence.
She even was invited onstage by Taylor, who won Album of the Year for Midnights.
“I think so many female artists would not be where they are and would not have the inspiration they have if it weren’t for the work that she’s done,” Taylor said of Lana.
“I think she is a legacy artist, a legend and in her prime right now. I am so lucky to know you and to be your friend.”
