Music to our ears! Taylor Swift’s inaugural Eras Tour show in Sydney became a star-studded affair, with notable figures like Katy Perry and Rita Ora gracing the event alongside Taylor’s supportive boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Katy (39), captured the evening’s essence through a series of Instagram posts, including heartwarming selfies with Taylor backstage, reminiscing on their enduring friendship with the caption, “got to see an old friend shine tonight ♥️✨.”
As Taylor mesmerized the audience with her electrifying performances, Katy’s Instagram feed lit up with snippets of the concert, featuring Taylor’s iconic hits like “You Belong With Me” and “Bad Blood.”
Notably, during “Bad Blood,” Katy flipped her camera around to show herself pulling a shocked face and mouthing the lyrics.
“Bad Blood” was originally inspired by a past years-long feud between Taylor and Katy, with Katy’s song Swish Swish also inspired by the feud.
“Bad Blood” no more
Amidst past rifts and public scrutiny, Katy and Taylor chose to rewrite the narrative of their relationship, embracing forgiveness and solidarity as guiding principles.
In a candid interview in 2020, Katy revealed the depth of their newfound friendship, highlighting their shared commitment to supporting and uplifting each other.
“Gossip in life can take the elevator but the truth takes the stairs. It just takes time,” Perry said at the time, adding that their feud was exaggerated by the media and they are now “super friendly.”
“What I’m so grateful for is we did get to make up publicly and got to be an example of redemption for young girls,” she continued.
“I always wanted the best for her and now we can talk about the best we want for each other.”
Taylor and Katy’s reconciliation journey culminated in a symbolic reunion in Katy’s music video for “You Need to Calm Down.”
Rita joined the festivities
Rita Ora, 33, also joined in on the festivities, sharing moments from the concert and expressing her admiration for Taylor’s captivating performance.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Rita acknowledged Taylor’s unparalleled stage presence, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to witness her musical prowess.
“It’s fair to say Sydney 🇦🇺 always delivers – Or shall we say our TayTay @taylorswift always delivers! thank you for having us! Seeing my KP @katyperry made my heart 🥹 to many queens to count!” Rita captioned the post.
The VIP tent buzzed with excitement as Katy and Rita exchanged words alongside filmmaker Taika Waititi.
During the show, Katy was seen graciously accepting a friendship bracelet from a fan, symbolizing the profound connections forged amidst Taylor’s Eras Tour.
Friday’s show was Taylor’s first of four at the Accor Stadium, with the “Anti-Hero” singer set to perform until Feb. 26 in Australia.
