Looking for love can be complicated and tricky.

Some people consider dating apps to be an easy way to meet potential partners. Others are convinced that dating apps have totally ruined romance culture in this modern era.

Regardless of where you fall on that spectrum, you must learn which Tinder red flags and scams you should be looking out for before searching for love.

Privacy expert Trevor Cooke from Earthweb Has a lot to say on the topic. Here’s his advice.

They won’t share details about themselves

From Trevor‘s perspective, it’s a major red flag at the person you’re chatting with online refuses to share any details about themselves.

When dating online, it’s important to have conversations that are open-ended and honest. Someone who is way too closed off likely has a lot to hide.

They are digging for your private details

Trevor says it’s a problem if they’re continually fishing for personal information.

Excessively messaging you or asking you questions that don’t fit the narrative of your conversation is an obvious sign that they don’t have good intentions.

There’s no reason someone from a dating app should be asking you for your mother’s maiden name or the name of your first pet!

They’re not answering any questions from you

If someone’s actually interested in dating you or getting to know you on a romantic level, they shouldn’t be super closed off.

It’s a waste of everyone’s time if they’re not comfortable answering a small handful of personal questions from you in a way that showcases their honesty.

They’re aggressively trying to meet up

Trevor says a huge red flag to look out for is someone aggressively trying to arrange plans to meet up with you right away.

A conversation of compatibility should take place before setting up in-person plans.

Someone who wants to meet you in person without getting to know you to any degree might be dangerous.

Their pictures are way too fake-looking

Trevor says that if their photos are unbelievable, it’s in your best interest to end the conversation right away.

Unrealistic photos depicting a lifestyle of private jets, cash stacks, yachts, sports cars, and the like are huge red flags.

If they only have one picture on their entire dating a profile, that’s also a problem.

Use your discretion on dating apps like Tinder. It’s possible to keep yourself safe if you know what to look out for.
