After much anticipation and speculation, Billie Eilish has officially announced her long-awaited third studio album, titled “Hit Me Hard and Soft.”

Scheduled for release on May 17, the album promises to deliver a captivating and immersive listening experience for fans around the world.

The album concept

Billie collaborated closely with her brother, Finneas, to create “Hit me Hard and Soft” with Finneas also serving as the album’s producer.

According to Billie, the album is meant to be listened to as a cohesive body of work, offering a journey through a range of emotions and sonic landscapes.

The album cover, featuring Billie submerged underwater beneath a white wooden door, hints at the ethereal and introspective themes explored throughout the record.

Unlike traditional album releases, Billie has chosen not to release any singles ahead of the LP’s debut.

Instead, she aims to offer fans a complete and uninterrupted listening experience from start to finish, allowing them to immerse themselves fully in the sonic journey of the album.

Environmental consciousness

In line with her commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, Billie has announced that all physical editions of “Hit Me Hard and Soft” will utilize 100% recyclable materials.

The release will include “limited variants” of the album, further emphasizing Billie’s dedication to minimizing waste and combatting climate change.

This marks Billie’s first full-length album release since 2021’s critically acclaimed “Happier Than Ever.”

Despite the three-year gap between albums, Billie has remained active in the music scene, surprising fans with releases such as the EP ‘Guitar Songs’ in 2022 and her chart-topping contribution to the Barbie soundtrack, “What Was I Made For?” which garnered widespread acclaim and accolades.

Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches, and prepare to embark on a mesmerizing musical journey with Billie Eilish.
