In a recent cover story for Time Magazine’s Time 100 issue, Dua Lipa delved into the power of manifestation and her anticipation for her upcoming album, ‘Radical Optimism’, set to release on May 3rd.
The 28-year-old pop sensation revealed her belief in manifesting her dreams, emphasizing the importance of jotting down her aspirations from a young age.
“Manifesting is a big thing for me,” she expressed. “I stand very firmly in the belief of putting things into the world. Subconsciously, you just work towards them. Nothing’s ever too big.”
This belief in manifestation extends to her forthcoming album, ‘Radical Optimism’, a project she’s been planning since before her debut record.
Dua reminisced about making notes for her third album while working on her self-titled debut in 2017.
“It’s mad to think about,” she reflected, “but I remember speaking to my close friend and A&R Joe [Kentish], ‘Maybe album three, I could work with [Tame Impala’s] Kevin Parker.’”
Describing the evolution from her debut to ‘Radical Optimism’, Dua highlighted her growth and maturity.
“The record as a whole is more mature,” she explained. “I’m definitely not the same person I was when I wrote my first album. I’ve evolved and learned so much… taking it as it comes, not seeing anything as bad or something as a setback.”
Power of manifestation
Reflecting on her journey, Dua emphasized her newfound confidence and self-assurance.
“I’m just a different person,” she stated. “Of course, this record is going to be different. I have different thoughts, wants, needs, and perspectives. I’ve done a 180 on myself… I feel the most confident at this point in my life.”
As Dua gears up for the release of ‘Radical Optimism’, she’s already treated fans to singles like ‘Illusion’, ‘Houdini’, and ‘Training Season’.
Additionally, she’s announced headline performances at Glastonbury 2024 alongside Coldplay and SZA, a one-off concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and a run of European shows for this summer.
With her unwavering belief in manifestation and her dedication to growth and self-discovery, Dua Lipa’s ‘Radical Optimism’ promises to be a transformative musical journey for both the artist and her fans.
