Alright, hold on to your Burn Books because there’s some major Mean Girls tea brewing!
Lindsay Lohan and Rachel McAdams, aka Cady Heron and Regina George themselves, are reportedly eyeing a sequel to the iconic teen comedy that had us all saying “so fetch” back in 2004.
According to a trusted source spilled to PEOPLE, Lindsay is all about another round of Mean Girls madness and is totally down for a sequel.
The source said Lindsay “wants to do another [Mean Girls] and has a good relationship with her former cast members,” which also include Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert.
“They are her friends and have been. Another film would be great for her and for audiences who loved the original.”
I mean, who wouldn’t want to see more of Cady and the Plastics stirring up drama at North Shore High?
And guess what? Rachel might be in, too! Despite missing out on the Walmart reunion with Lohan and the gang last fall, the Tony-nominated actress is said to be intrigued by the idea.
“Rachel would likely do a Mean Girls sequel if everything presented to her made sense,” the source said.
Let’s just say, if the script’s right, Regina George could be making a comeback!
Now, before you start planning your pink-themed viewing parties, let’s keep it real. This sequel chatter has been floating around for years, and we’ve all been burned before.
But with Lindsay and Rachel on board, there might just be hope for another fetch-filled adventure.
As for Tina Fey, the mastermind behind Mean Girls she’s the one holding the keys to the Burn Book. We’re all waiting for her to give the green light, so let’s keep those fingers crossed.
“You got to tell the boss lady over there,” Daniel Franzese, who played Damian in Mean Girls said during a January event, referring to Tina Fey about a potential sequel
“I’m sure [she’s] heard it a million times, but she’s the gatekeeper, so we’re all waiting,” he said.
Until then, you can relive all the drama, laughs, and iconic quotes from the original Mean Girls on Paramount+ and Apple TV+.
