It tells the story of an author who gets kidnapped by a billionaire who’s convinced she’ll be able to lead him to the lost treasure in an ancient city based on the fictitious adventure novels she’s written in the past.

Kate & Leopold (2001)

Kate & Leopold is a 2001 romantic comedy starring Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman in the leading roles.

It has an outrageous storyline since it focuses on a charming duke from the 1800s somehow time traveling to the century where he can fall in love with a woman living in the corporate world.

Failure to Launch (2006)

Failure to Launch is a hilarious romantic comedy from 2006 starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey and the leading roles.

It tells the story of a 35-year-old man who isn’t interested in moving out of his parents’ home.

They decide to hire a beautiful young woman to convince him that it’s time to grow up and become a little more independent.

The 35-year-old man still living with his parents isn’t shocking. The extreme level his parents go to to change the situation is what makes this movie so outrageous.

Stardust (2007)

2007 is the year Stardust originally hit theaters. It starts Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Henry Cavill, and Michelle Pfeiffer in a leading roles.

It tells the story of a man venturing into a fairytale to track down a fallen star.

Instead of finding a star, he crosses with a young woman who’s in danger and in need of protection.

In an attempt to keep her safe, he falls head over heels in love with her. The fantastical romantic comedy was written as an adventure of fantasy with an outrageous (and romantic) to keep up with.
