Charli XCX recently stirred the pot of pop music gossip with her revelation about her involvement in Britney Spears’ rumored 10th studio album.

During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the “Official” songstress candidly shared insights into her collaboration with the Princess of Pop’s team.

Confirming the speculation that had been swirling around, Charli disclosed, “[The news] was leaked to the press.”

In January, sources told Page Six that Charli and Julia Michaels were among the songwriters asked to work on the “Circus” singer’s possible new album.

She went on to explain that she had indeed worked with Britney’s team on the project.

“I went to Malibu, and I wrote. You always write songs hoping Britney’s going to record them … but, you know, she didn’t record it.”

Charli confirmed she wrote new music for Britney

However, the excitement surrounding the collaboration took an unexpected turn when Britney took to social media to debunk the claims.

“Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash !!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry !!!” the “Gimme More” singer wrote on Instagram at the time.

Charli recalled Britney’s response, stating, “Britney then did this post where she was like, ‘I don’t have random people write for me.’ I was like, ‘OK, go off!’ So I don’t know that she was part of the process.”

Despite the setback, she expressed hope that Britney might change her mind, calling it “a dream come true” if the collaboration were to materialize.

While Britney’s team appeared eager to reignite her music career, the pop star herself remained hesitant, having vowed never to release another album following past traumas during her conservatorship.

As fans eagerly await any developments on the horizon, Charli’s revelation has added fuel to the fire of speculation surrounding Britney’s potential musical comeback.
