When planning a wedding, you might’ve settled on a set budget with your partner.
No matter how perfect your budget plan might be, there is still the potential for hidden wedding costs to pop out of left field.
Jason Higgs, the Senior Deals Strategist at Bountii, just broke down 10 of these potential wedding costs that you might want to start planning ahead for.
10 additional things that could blow up your wedding bill

The first thing to look out for are venue extras. You might not know ahead of time that your venue requires parking fees, cleaning fees, and overtime charges.
It’s good to ask questions about every charge that could come your way before signing any contracts.
Corkage fees are also something to look out for. Some venues and caterers charge couples an additional fee for simply opening bottles of alcohol.
Alteration costs might come out of left field, so it’s important to get ahead of that also.
Adjusting parts of your wedding dress or parts of your partner’s tuxedo can come out to hundreds of dollars.
Meals for vendors should also be taken into consideration. It’s respectful to offer meals to the DJ, photographer, and anyone else who’s working on bringing your wedding to life. Those meals must still be paid for.
Marriage license fees land anywhere from $20-$100 based on where you live. This is another expense you have to factor in before walking down the aisle.
The cost of transportation is something else to take into account. If you’re opting for shuttle buses or limousines to get your wedding guests from point A to point B, figuring out how much that will cost is essential.
Gratuities must also be calculated. How much do you plan to tip the service staff, bartenders, and caterers? Other vendors working your wedding should also be tipped as well.
Cake cutting fees might also hit you at the last minute based on your caterer or venue. In the worst case, you’ll be charged five dollars for each slice cut.
Postage for invitations and thank you notes must also be calculated when it comes to your wedding expenses.
After all, how else will you get your invitations out to your loved ones? And how else will you say “thank you” to the friends and family members who actually showed up?
Wedding day insurance is something else to consider.
You might want to make sure your event is insured in case anyone accidentally gets hurt. Wedding day insurance can cost up to $500.
