When the world first listened to Miley Cyrus sing “Wrecking Ball“ in 2013, it changed everything!
At the time, everyone connected the emotional ballad to her breakup with Liam Hemsworth.
After all, they were going through a broken engagement at the time! Would you believe it if you found out this song was actually meant to be performed by someone else?
Beyoncé was supposed to sing “Wrecking Ball”
There’s never been any drama or feud between Miley and Beyoncé, but it’s been widely reported that Beyoncé was the singer who “Wrecking Ball“ was originally meant for.
Sacha Skarbek is one of the lyricists who made the song come to life.
According to StyleCaster, he said, “Originally, the [songwriting session between Dr. Luke and Skarbek] was booked to write a song for Beyoncé.”
For whatever reason, the writers didn’t believe the song would’ve been a good fit for Beyoncé and eventually passed it along to Miley.
This is great news for music lovers everywhere because we all know that Miley did an amazing job singing “Wrecking Ball.“ She gave the song endless emotion, passion, and heart.
It’s not as if Beyoncé wasn’t ALSO totally killing the game the year this all went down in 2013.
2013 is the year Beyoncé released songs like “Drunk in Love,“ “Partition,“ and “Pretty Hurts.“
“Wrecking Ball“ was part of Miley’s 2013 album Bangerz. Along with “Wrecking Ball,” Miley also released “We Can’t Stop,“ “Adore You,“ and “My Darlin’.“
This all played out the exact way it was supposed to.
