Whether you’re rooting for Halle Bailey and DDG‘s relationship to thrive or not, this is a couple who remains unbothered by opinions from outside sources.
Here are five little-known secrets about their love story so far.
DDG kept it vague about proposing to Halle.

On Keep It 100, DDG was asked about popping the question to Halle.
In summary, he responded saying, “Yeah, eventually… I feel like we just have to move at our own pace at this point.”
His vague response about getting engaged doesn’t exactly sound promising, but it doesn’t sound like a total impossibility either.
Apparently, Halle knew DDG sent that petty text to Rubi Rose all along.

In February 2023, Rubi Rose shared screenshots of her messages with DDG when he asked her if she was in Los Angeles.
Rubi responded, “U hitting me the day y’all argue is so u.”
He responded, “lol u right, lemme go heal first.”
In an interview with Vlad TV, DDG said, “I did it in front of her. I had no intention of actually linking with Rubi Rose. She seen it. Imagine you’re arguing with your girl and you get mad at her for something. ‘I’m finna do this. Watch this,’ type sh*t. I feel like people thought that I was like sneakily like, ‘Oh what you doing?’ and that’s when she posted it. I know what type of girl she is.”
Halle and DDG hid the pregnancy of their son to avoid joy thieves.
If you’re curious to know why Halle and DDG hid their pregnancy 2017-Kylie-Jenner-style, it was to avoid criticism and hate from the general public.
At the 2024 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards Ceremony, Halle said, “There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone. Halo was my gift. He is the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, me, or my family to that.”
DDG and Halle are not a 50/50 type of couple.
The discourse online between men and women about whether or not relationships should be 50/50 regarding finances doesn’t apply to Halle and DDG.
On Keep It 100, he said, “I pay for a lot of stuff. I don’t think 50/50 is a thing when you have money. Me and her have money so it’s a little different.”
DDG’s song “Famous” highlighted deep insecurity and misogyny against Halle’s career.
Last but not least, and this one isn’t exactly a secret since anyone and their mother can stream this song for themselves, but DDG’s song “Famous” did not give good vibes in the slightest.
DDG released the song bashing Halle’s onscreen romance as the Little Mermaid with her co-star who played Prince Eric.
Like, DDG’s lyrics go from bad to worse.
He raps, “I’m tryna figure out what we gon’ do/How we gon’ get to the top?/Filmin’ a movie now you kissing dudes. You know I love you a lot/I don’t give a fuck if that shit for promo/I don’t wanna see this shit no more.”
Then he says, “Why is y’all holdin’ hands in the photo? You know I’m insecure, that’s a no-no/I keep comin’ back/Wanna leave you but I’m too attached.”
And then he adds, “I been so insecure that I be thinkin’ you really be fuckin’ n****s you in movies with/ But on the internet, I just be coolin’ it, but in my head, a n**** really losin’ it/Gotta be payin’ good ’cause you keep doin’ it, I might just tweet somethin’ just to ruin it/I got a platform, I’m abusin’ it.”
