Is it possible they started a new trend of hidden pregnancies?
Since Halle and Kylie are both so influential, it wouldn’t be surprising to learn that tons of pregnant women in the world are keeping their pregnancies under wraps to emulate these famous celebrities.
Why exactly did Halle and Kylie decide to go this route though?
Kylie Jenner’s secret pregnancy.
Starting with Kylie, because she’s the celebrity who kept her pregnancy secret first. Kylie was pregnant with Travis Scott’s baby from late 2017 until early 2018.
While speaking with Andy Cohen about her decision, she said, “I shared so much of my life. I was also really young when I got pregnant, and it was just a lot for me personally. I didn’t know how I would bring that to the public too and have everyone’s opinion. I think it was just something that I needed to go through by myself.”
Kylie‘s famous sisters agreed that Kylie made the best decision at the time with Kim Kardashian noting that it would’ve been a media frenzy if Kylie made her pregnancy public.
Kylie‘s decision positively benefited her regarding her safety and protection.
When Andy asked her how she managed to successfully hide her baby belly for so long, she explained that she simply stayed home and never spent much time outside.
There were helicopters swarming her mansion in Calabasas every day, so she couldn’t even step outside her front door.
At the time, Kylie was posting tons of throwback pictures and videos from before her pregnancy to throw people off as well.
On February 4, 2018, she shared a video titled “To Our Daughter” to officially announce the news to the world.
During Kylie‘s second pregnancy with her son, Aire, she shared pictures and updates throughout as a way of documenting the journey.
It was a lot different from the time she was pregnant with her daughter, Stormi.
Halle Bailey.
Halle‘s secret pregnancy took place a few years later throughout late 2023 and early 2024.
It seemed Halle was eager to take a page from Kylie‘s playbook because she also refrained from making any big announcements.
She’s quoted speaking about her son, Halo, saying, “There was no way in hell I was going to share the biggest joy of my world with anyone. Halo was my gift. He is the greatest blessing, and I had no obligation to expose him, me, or my family to that unyielding spotlight.”
Halle also posted a lot of throwback pics and wore dresses that were designed to hide her baby bump whenever she was out and about.
On January 6, 2024, she shared the official announcement about Halo’s birth on social media.
The benefits of their decision
Tons of studies have been done to reveal that the stress of a mother during her pregnancy can mess with a baby development and wellbeing.
That being said, it was definitely in Kylie and Halle’s best interest not to share such important information with the world until they were both individually ready.
The trend of hidden pregnancies might just become more popular because of these two stars.
In contrast, other celebs who’ve boldly shared news about their pregnancies include Rihanna, Kourtney Kardashian, Vanessa Hudgens, Sofia Richie-Grainge, and Hailey Bieber!
